Virtual Horizons Charter School ("VHCS") is committed to protecting the privacy of families who visit this website. Information collected through our enrollment inquiry form (parent/guardian name, email, phone number, child's first name, grade level, and optional notes) is used solely to process enrollment inquiries and contact prospective families. Information submitted through our newsletter sign-up form is used only to send school news and enrollment updates. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Form submissions are transmitted securely and delivered to authorized VHCS staff only. This site uses Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection; Cloudflare's Privacy Policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy) governs that service. We do not use third-party advertising networks or cross-site tracking cookies. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, contact us at [email protected]. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and eligible students certain rights with respect to a student's education records. (1) The right to inspect and review your child's education records within 45 days of VHCS receiving a written request. (2) The right to request amendment of records you believe are inaccurate or misleading; VHCS will respond within a reasonable time and, if it declines to amend, will advise you of your right to a hearing. (3) The right to written consent before VHCS discloses personally identifiable information from education records, except as permitted by FERPA (e.g., disclosure to school officials with a legitimate educational interest, or upon transfer to another school). (4) The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education: Student Privacy Policy Office, 400 Maryland Ave SW, Washington DC 20202. VHCS designates directory information as: student name, grade level, and enrollment status. Parents may opt out of directory information disclosure by submitting a written request to [email protected].

VHCS complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Enrollment inquiries are submitted by a parent or guardian on behalf of their child. The only child-specific information collected is the child's first name and grade level, provided voluntarily by a parent. In the school context, VHCS acts as the operator collecting student information for legitimate educational purposes under COPPA's school exception. Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information at any time by contacting [email protected].

Teacher Qualifications Policy
Parents of registered and attending students have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their student's classroom teacher(s). VHCS will provide, upon request, information regarding state qualification and licensing criteria, licensing status, degree and certification held, and other relevant qualifications. VHCS may employ individuals holding LEA-specific educator licenses, license areas, or endorsements in accordance with Utah Administrative Code R277-301-7.
