A calmer room to learn in
Virtual Horizons is a school your student attends from home, inside a virtual classroom. No hallways. No cafeteria. No 30-desk room. Your student puts on the headset in a space you control, and the parts of the building that made school unbearable are simply not there.
Every class is led live by a licensed teacher, and the curriculum is aligned to the Utah Core. Calmer does not mean less school.
Teachers teach. You do not have to become the teacher.
SpaceHow a VR school works
Grades 4–8 meet live with the teacher; grades 9–12 work at their own pace.
A day, start to finish
Your student wakes up at home, puts the headset on, and joins a live class with a teacher and classmates. Lessons run through the Utah Core subjects. Between them the headset comes off, and your student is in your house, not a hallway.
- Walk through ancient Egypt instead of reading a chapter about it.
- Take apart a frog heart and put it back together, with nothing harmed.
- Stand where dinosaurs walked.
- Work a group project with classmates who are in the room with them.
Every one of those is a real lesson with a live licensed teacher in it, graded against the Utah Core. The school year starts August 17.

IEPs and 504 plans
Virtual Horizons Charter School is a public charter school, we’re held to the same federal and state special education laws as every other public school in Utah. Students with an IEP receive services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); students with a 504 Plan receive accommodations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

$0. Tuition is $0 because Virtual Horizons is a public school funded by the State of Utah. The Meta Quest 3S is $0. The laptop is $0. Tech support is included. There is no catch and no fee at any point.
No. Classes are live and shared. Your student sees and talks with classmates inside the virtual classroom, and a licensed teacher is leading the room the whole time. The headset is what makes it a room instead of a video call.
It is school time. Your student is standing in a lesson with a teacher and classmates, not watching a recording alone. Class time is instruction, the same as any Utah public school day, taught to the same standards.
Space to stand and turn safely, and internet. The Meta Quest 3S and the laptop come from the school at $0.
